Instructors & Volunteers
Adaptive Instructor Qualifications
In conjunction with Snow Sports NZ, The Remarkables adaptive programme offers adaptive training for volunteers and training towards qualifications for adaptive instructors. For information about how to become a volunteer or an adaptive instructor please email the programme directly at adaptive@theremarkables.co.nz or call us on 03 442 4613 during the winter season.
Volunteers
Our volunteers are available to assist free of charge and are trained in a wide range of adaptive techniques from sighted guide through to sit ski. They are also available for general on-snow support. Many of them are also trained instructors and physiotherapists so they really know how to help you get the most from your day.
The volunteers are available for morning and afternoon sessions with flexible times to meet both your needs and theirs. Volunteers are not available for off the snow support so please make sure you have other support available should this be needed.
If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, either as a regular or casual volunteer, we have a mandatory training weekend on The Remarkables opening weekend (June 18 & 19, subject to weather conditions). This doubles as our volunteer selection weekend. Should you be successful, ongoing training is offered throughout the season. Minimum skiing and riding standards apply. For more information please email adaptive@theremarkables.co.nz - we'd love to hear from you.
